Tom Hanks makes Guinness

A man who can guarantee box office success, Tom Hanks has made it into the Guinness Book of World Records for having starred in or collaborated on seven movies in a row – between 1998 and 2002 – that have made more than $100 million each in North America. On the list of his accomplishments are «You've Got Mail», «Saving Private Ryan», «Toy Story 2» in which only his voice starred, «The Green Mile», «Cast Away», «Road to Perdition» and «Catch Me If You Can». If only his first try at directing, «That Thing You Do», had done better than $25 million, his record would have been 11 in a row, with «Toy Story», «Apollo 13» and «Forrest Gump» – movies that all came just before «You've got Mail». In addition, the total value of his movies in North America alone so far is $3 billion, with an average of $100 million per film. And that's not even counting «The Da Vinci Code», which is sure to break some records when it comes out this month.
