Kaká and Ronaldo come to cinema's rescue

On Sunday November 29, Spain will host the most awaited soccer match of the season: Barcelona – Real Madrid. For the occasion, 51 Spanish movie theaters will broadcast the Clasico in high definition, with tickets at movie rates: between 6 and 8 euros.

To offer up a spectacle under the best conditions possible, 27 cameras wereinstalled in the Camp Nou stadium, including a steadycam, an omnicam, two slow motion cameras, and one attached to a blimp that will fly over Europe's largest stadium during the match.

Just two days before this great sports event, the 16,000 seats are almost all sold. The media, TV series and movie production specialist Mediapro Group, which is in charge of the project, plans to offer the same services for future Champions League matches.

After complaining for years about strong competition from video games, DVDs and, more recently, illegal Internet downloads, movie theater owners may get a second wind thanks to players like Kaká, Messi, Ibrahimovic and Cristiano Ronaldo.
