Based on the book "Diana: Her Last Love" by Kate Snell, this biopic covers 1995 to August 31, 1997. On that date, the divorced crown princess was killed, along with her lover, the Egyptian businessman Dodi Fayed, in a mysterious car crash in Paris. But the focus is not on that affair, it is on the one before that – Diana’s relationship with the Pakistani heart surgeon Hasnet Khan, who was reportedly Diana’s true love.

If celebrity kitsch is spread on so thickly, it’s easy to swallow even the most bizarre plot points. Even if Hasnet Khan himself has called the story mere gossip, in a soap opera truth and make believe are both the same. Which will pacify the Royalists: this bit of fluff will hardly upset Buckingham Palace.
