Resident Evil: The Final Chapter

Movie Rating: Geoffrey Crété

Betrayed by Albert Wesker, who managed to kill her friends, Alice is alone in Washington. But she quickly finds the Red Queen, the artificial intelligence created by the evil Umbrella Corporation. The latter offers her the opportunity to destroy her enemy once and for all – who is about to exterminate the survivors who escaped the horrible virus that transformed humanity into an army of zombies. To stop them, Alice returns to the laboratory hidden under Racoon City, the place where her nightmare began...

Finally. After fifteen years and six films, the franchise starring Milla Jovovich, which was more or less adapted from the popular video games, comes to an end. At this stage, no one will be surprised by the spectacle offered by Paul W.S. Anderson, the screenwriter and producer of the whole franchise, who directs his fourth installment. The Final Chapter is a ridiculous, crude action film, which doesn’t bother with nuance or coherence as it follows its own mythology. But never mind: the film is focused on providing pure entertainment to its fans, with a ton of special effects and things that explode. Starring Milla Jovovich as usual, who manages to be nicely convincing in all circumstances. A guilty pleasure perhaps, but a pleasure nonetheless.
