Tinker Bell and the Legend of the NeverBeast

Movie Rating: Hela Khamarou

After a strange green comet crosses the sky, the quiet of Pixie Hollow is troubled by the roar of a huge creature that even Nyx, the scout fairy in charge of the Hollow’s security, can’t identify. As the animal fairy, Fawn decides to investigate, finding out that the “monster” has a wounded paw and is hiding in a cave. Despite its outer scariness, Fawn realizes that the animal, which she calls “NeverBeast”, has a heart of gold.

In the wake of the popular Tinker Bell and the Lost Treasure, Pixie Hollow Games and The Pirate Fairy, here comes a new episode with Tinkerbell and her good-hearted friends. This animated flick for kids directed by Steve Loter is sweet entertainment that takes up the usual classic Disney themes, especially the idea that the heart is as important as reason and that appearances can be deceiving – as seen in Beauty and the Beast, Cinderalla, Mulan and, more recently, Shrek. Each of the fairies has her own particular character, making it easy for children to identify with someone. Humor, emotion and plot twists make up the necessary ingredients for a good animated film. The characters are well-voiced by a great cast, headed up by Mae Whitman, Ginnifer Goodwin, Rosario Dawson and Lucy Liu.
