In the realm of Bubunne, women wear the pants and men the veils. The youngest of them dream of only one thing: marrying the Colonel, the country’s future leader. Upon the announcement of the next handover of power, a great ball is organized, during which she will choose her concubine, the “Great Gonads”. Jacky manages to get an invitation, but his step-family does everything they can to prevent him from going. Jacky finds help in his Cinderella story from a rebellious uncle who is planning to escape the country – and a revolution to give men equal rights. Will Jacky be able to catch the woman of his dreams?

The inequality between men and women is nicely turned on its head in this call for freedom of speech and movement for women. Strong characters (Anémone, Didier Bourdon, Charlotte Gainsbourg) carry the message proudly as they make audiences laugh. For once, a dictatorial regime is fun – and a good time too.
