What is love like when you’re blind? The sightless 15-year-old Leo is sheltered from bullies at school by his best friend Giovana. But Leo wants to be independent and dreams of leaving Sao Paolo for the States. Giovana wants him all to herself, and finds her plan thwarted when a new pupil arrives at school: Gabriel, who befriends Leo. Giovana finds herself pushed aside as Leo begins to develop feelings for Gabriel and realizes he’s gay.

Auteur director Daniel Ribeiro’s coming-of-age film is intimate – not sexually, but emotionally. Today the subject matter is not that unusual, which forces the movie to rest on its other aspects. The result is unspectacular and sensitive.
