Slick thriller: adaptation of Jussi Adler-Olsen’s bestseller "The Keeper of Lost Causes".

Inspector Carl Mørck is badly traumatized by the fact that his partner was killed and another cop was badly wounded during a case they all worked on. When he comes back to work from sick leave, his superiors assign him to the new Department Q, which deals with cold cases. At first Mørck is barely interested in his job, until his new partner Assad digs up a five-year-old case of a missing politician. They both soon doubt she committed suicide as they uncover a brutal crime involving years of torment.

Turning the atmospheric density of an over 500-page thriller into a good 90-minute movie necessitates a lots of cuts. Screenwriter Nicolaj Arcel (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and director of The Royal Affair) got rid of secondary plots and characters, but also changed certain aspects of the story. At this pace, there is barely room for in-depth characters or scenes as the plot is driven mercilessly forward.
