A neurotic and mute thirty-year-old lives with his two aging, oddball aunts.

A neurotic thirty-year-old who has been mute since he saw his parents killed, Paul lives in the country with his two older aunts. The two are peas in a pod: teachers of odd types of dance who are proud of their aristocratic origins, and who have brought up their nephew according to their own vision of him becoming a renowned pianist one day. Paul accompanies their dance classes on the piano by day and suffers through the same nightmare every night: vague images of his violent wrestler father, whom he suspects of having abused his beloved mother. The solution to his problems may rest with his neighbor Mlle Proust, who makes him hallucinogenic herbal teas to help him access memoires buried deep inside...

Like little cakes dunked in tea the initial idea is good, only to have pieces break off, leaving the cup full of unappetizing stuff floating on the surface. Our humble hero Paul reveals his memories in the form of 70’s flashbacks that are – unfortunately – sung. A search for identity that ends up crumbling while the content is still lukewarm, and hard to swallow as it becomes cold. Despite some nice bits of comedy and charming characters, the overall effect is bland.
