Cage fighter Luke (Jason Statham) and 10-year-old wunderkind Mei (Catherine Chan) have lost everything. Luke wanders around homeless after the Russian mob kills his wife. Mei is in the hands of the Chinese triads, who take advantage of her as a human computer. When she escapes, she meets Luke, who finds in her a new purpose in life. As they are hunted down by ruthless assassins, Luke tries to play the two sides off each other.

Safe presents a tragic Jason Statham, whose fate makes him responsible for a 10-year-old Chinese girl. The emotional ambiance and a story that is almost too complex for a Statham movie make this a pleasant action flick. Director Boaz Akin also makes it smart and heartwarming, arguably resulting in Statham's best vehicle in a long time.
