Our fearless heroine Milla Jovovich goes back into battle for her life, revealing elements of her mysterious past.

Alice (Milla Jovovich) is captured by the Umbrella Corporation and imprisoned. Although she manages to escape with help from outside, she finds herself deep below the ocean. Together with the special unit sent to get her out, she must fight her way through several levels of a facility studying zombie outbreaks. But it's not only the monsters that are dangerous – time is scarce, as the entire complex is due to explode. Yet in the midst of it all, there is still enough time to reveal Alice as a... mother?

Resident Evil: Afterlife already dialed back the horror in favor of more action, and this mutation in the series is complete with Resident Evil: Retribution. Aside from two brief scenes, the movie is not about horror and shock, but about how to pack as much action as possible into 95 minutes – all the while focusing on Milla Jovovich's super-buff body. Not a movie for great thinkers, but in its simplicity an entertaining shoot 'em up.
