1974: Swiss journalists land in the middle of Portugal's revolution. Nostalgic political comedy by Lionel Baier.

In 1974, the general manager of Swiss-French radio is exhorted by a federal councilor to report less on Switzerland's bad news and more about what's going well. He sends a team of reporters to Portugal for a story about the positive effect Swiss relief aid is having on the country. But the team of journalists end up in the middle of Portugal's Carnation Revolution, which spells the end of the dictatorship. With cameos by Swiss filmmakers Ursula Meier and Jean-Stéphane Bron.

This is the starting point of Lionel Baiers unusual idea: to focus less on a factual media drama and instead to present the animated socio-cultural ambiance of post-1968. This nostalgic political comedy uses the Carnation Revolution as an example, any easy feat since it was mainly peaceful. Audiences unfamiliar with the details will not be able to follow everything, but they'll still be entertained by satiric references to dealing with the media, the emancipation of women and the unifying force of free love.
