Can an independent, anarchist station survive in the world of formatted, capitalist television? This is what Télé gaucho offers the residents of the neighborhood its makers are squatting in, turning a building into a studio and place for reflection. The invention of digital cameras make it possible for this cheerful group of improvised journalists to train their shoulder-cameras on demonstrations in favor of undocumented immigrants and to stake out right-wing extremist skinheads in support of their convictions and politics. The arrival of a young provincial – a fan of Jean-Luc Godard films and an intern at HT1, the corporate enemy station – may make it possible for them to spread their rebellious message throughout the country.
