Thought to be lost for ever, a movie made by Charlie Chaplin resurfaces on eBay at a ridiculously cheap price.

Chaplin on eBay

For the ridiculous sum of CHF 5.-, English collector Morace Park bought a short film on eBay titled «Charlie Chaplin in Zepped», which alternates animation with live action.

Amazingly, this 7-minute film directed by the legendary Charlie Chaplin in 1916 was considered lost forever, and very few biographies about him even mention it.

Initial analysts came up with the hypothesis that the short film may have be used as propaganda to allay the English population's fears of armed German zeppelins deployed during WWI. Actually, in «Charlie Chaplin in Zepped» the maker of «The Dictator» makes fun of the Germans and their dirigible.

The fragile 35mm copy will now be transferred onto a modern medium to preserve it from any future degradation.
