France and Spain triumph at the Oscars
«No Country For Old Men» is the big winner at the Oscars.
Another favorite at the ceremonies, «There Will Be Blood», went away with only two Oscars, but they were significant ones: Best Cinematography and Best Actor, for Daniel Day-Lewis.
The big loser of the evening was Cate Blanchett, nominated for Best Actress and Best Supported Actress. The talented Australian was trumped by Marion Cotillard with her gripping performance as Edit Piaf in «La Vie En Rose» and Tilda Swinton in «Michael Clayton».
Besides France, another European country is celebrating today, as Spain proudly puts another statuette on its mantel: Javier Bardem took home the Best Supporting Actor Oscar for his role as a psychopathic killer in «No Country For Old Men».
In addition to winning in that category, the Coen Brothers also won for Best Film, Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Director(s).
