The Last Exorcism
Horror movie about an American minister who decides to film his last exorcism.
The Reverend Cotton Marcus preaches every Sunday at his church, but his enthusiasm is waning; his sermons are a charade, he performs exorcisms on people he doesn't really consider as possessed. Tired of his own hypocrisy, he decides to film his last exorcism with the help of a crew - on a farm where a girl is said to be held captive by a demon. But this experience will make him question his own lack of faith.
This second feature by young German director Daniel Stamm guarantees shivers without matching up to William Friedkin's original Exorcist, but is still a successful horror movie thanks to good production values. The abrupt change from reassuring comedic tone to absolutely psychotic horror in the second part is worth the ticket on its own, but the quick and banal ending is a disappointment.
