Van Gogh trial begins
The trial of the suspected murderer of Théo Van Gogh, director of the documentary short «Submission: Part I», began in Amsterdam on Monday.
November 2, 2004: Théo Van Gogh, director, chronicler and great-great grandnephew of the celebrated Dutch painter, was killed in Amsterdam while riding his bicycle. His crime: making a film called «Submission: Part I», denouncing the female condition in Muslim society. The trial of his suspected assassin, Mohammed Bouyeri, began Monday and is due to run no more than two days. Bouyeri is also suspected of belonging to an Islamic terrorist group.
