Actress banned from leaving her country

For appearing in «Body Of Lies» alongside Leonardo DiCaprio and Russell Crowe, an award-winning Iranian actress has been banned by authorities from leaving the country.

According to local law, Golshifteh Farahani would have had to apply for and receive ahead of time special authorization from the Iranian Ministry Culture to appear in a foreign production.

A celebrated actress in Iran, Farahani won the Best Actress award at the San Sebastian Film Festival in 2006 for her performance in the Iranian production «Half Moon».
