While researching a rare disease that he himself is plagued by, director Ken August Meyer stumbles upon a discovery that leads him to the work of artist Paul Klee in Switzerland. Shortly after Klee fled Germany to Switzerland to escape the Nazis, he was diagnosed with the same autoimmune disease. Scleroderma leads to physical deformities that are reflected in Paul Klee's art.
