On board the International Space Station, a team of astronauts collect samples from Mars, studying them for evidence of extraterrestrial life. Mission accomplished: they find a cell in hibernation which, after being poked a bit, wakes up and starts evolving. But even as Earth celebrates this historic discovery, the nightmare begins: the alien life form becomes belligerent and attacks the crew...

A scary, aggressive alien, a set of main characters supported by lesser roles (fodder), an enclosed space, the survival of humanity. We’ve had this formula before: elements strongly inspired by (stolen from) from Alien, with a bit of Gravity thrown in. But it’s not really a problem. For fans of B-movies, thrills and horror, this movie by Daniel Espinosa (Safe House) fits the bill perfectly. Efficiently packaged, almost joyfully bloodthirsty, Life offers a tense, merciless adventure that has no ambitions to reinvent the genre, it has no other pretension than to entertain and amuse. As long as you don’t take it seriously, Life is a very pleasant little nightmare.
