Twenty years after escaping the terrible Borgen, the trolls live in peace in their idyllic kingdom, inhabited by good humor, dance and music. Despite the advice of Branch, who knows they are still in danger, Poppy organizes a big party to celebrate her father, the King, who has helped his people survive. But Borgen tracks the trolls down, attacking the kingdom and kidnapping many of them. With the help of those left, including Branch, Poppy starts looking for them...

It’s a sad day for Hollywood’s imagination when dolls from the 80s are used as a basis for an animated film. Lacking the 4th-wall element that allowed The Lego Movie to surpass its commercial status, Trolls is nothing more than yet another hysterical blockbuster that’s all over the place, recycling the same-old-same-old. Superficial, uninventive, it attempts to lead up to a great big fast-paced adventure. Kids will like it, but they deserve better. How the mighty have fallen: DreamWorks, which was celebrated in the early 2000s for its funny, topical Shrek, is now struggling to defend its place within the crowded animated film scene.
