Julien is a city boy who makes off-beat smartphone apps. When he asks Eva to marry him, he has no idea what he’s getting himself into. She says yes and takes him for a weekend on the island of Ré to present him to her family: her parents, her brother, her nephews. Within this environment that seems at first glance very orderly and traditional, Julien soon discovers that Eva’s family is far from being as normal as expected...

How many times have we seen this same story, these same characters, these same jokes? Too, too many times. This movie by Alan Corno and Jérôme Commandeur, the actor from Retour chez ma mère and Barbecue, was built according to the prototype for bad popular comedy with no imagination or creativity. Simply put: it’s neither funny nor worthwhile, instead it’s overblown, terrible and stupid. Its slapstick vision of the so-called model family, its gags about the clash between social classes, its dumb little moral at the end: nothing can save this indigestible stinker, which wallows in easy effects and pushes even good actors to ridiculous performances. Avoid it at all costs, even if you are in desperate need of an easy comedy.
