It's White House Down shortly after former cop John Cale (Channing Tatum) applies for a job at the White House as a bodyguard for US President James Sawyer (Jamie Foxx). After being turned down, all Cale wants to do is take a tour of the building with his daughter. But then the unthinkable happens: heavily armed terrorists attack the White House and threaten the president. It's all up to Cale now. Disguised as a harmless tourist, he has to save not only the president, but also the entire nation from destruction...

Director Roland Emmerich loves to destroy the White House on film. In Independence Day he had aliens blow it up, in the disaster movie 2012 he had it flattened by an aircraft carrier, and now in White House Down it is threatened by brutal terrorists. Emmerich returns to his blockbuster roots in the wake of the historical thriller Anonymous. The result is a brilliantly photographed, action-packed fireworks display, whose overblown patriotism and thin plot is balanced out by the perfect chemistry between its two stars.
