U.S. Marine Sergeant Logan Thibault (Zac Efron) returns home unscathed from his third tour of duty in Iraq. He attributes his survival to a photo of a pretty, blonde woman he found in the desert. Back in the States, Logan tries to find his guardian angel, walking with his German shepherd from Colorado to Louisiana, where he finally meets Beth (Taylor Schilling). Without telling her about the picture, Logan starts working at the animal shelter run by Beth's grandmother (Blythe Danner).
