A special unit led by Ross (Sylvester Stallone) made up of a troupe of elite soldiers (Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren) goes on a mission to get a Chinese billionaire out of a jam. The aging team meets an old acquaintance (Arnold Schwarzenegger) in passing, who keeps showing up to lend a strong hand – mutual aid that is part of the code of honor so important to this group of mercenaries. Their next mission, commanded by Church (Bruce Willis), takes a darker turn when their latest recruit, Billy the Kid (Liam Hemsworth), is brutally killed by the man who will become their next target: Vilain (Jean-Claude Van Damme). As a result, both the good and the bad of this part of the world go in search of a box containing the plans to a mine harboring five tons of plutonium hidden by the soviets during the Cold War.
