Edge of Darkness
Looking forward to spending some time with his daughter again, Boston cop Thomas Craven finds his life turned upside down when she is shot as they are both about to leave his house. In shock and sure the bullets were meant for him, Craven investigates at full tilt, despite being told not to by his superiors. He finds out his daughter was actually the target, as she represented a threat to the government by discovering a conspiracy... Action specialist (the two Zorros with Antonio Banderas; two James Bonds: Casino Royale and Golden Eye) Martin Campbell adapts his own 1980's TV series. The result is a solid thriller with no big surprises, in which Mel Gibson, looking serious, lock-jawed and very old, returns to the movies after almost 8 years, doing what he does best: seeking revenge for a family member. See Payback, The Patriot, Braveheart, Ransom, etc.
