The Man Who Wasn't There
Taciturn and quiet, Ed is employed as a barber in a Santa Rosa, a small town in Northern California. While the U.S. as a whole in this year of 1949 is becoming increasingly paranoid - what with communist Russia and little green men both threatening to invade - Ed is thinking of changing his profession and living a more comfortable life. Then one of his clients suggests he invest in a revolutionary new invention: dry cleaning. But first Ed needs to find 10,000 dollars, and he comes up with a great idea: since he's convinced that his wife is cheating on him with his friend Dave, who is the boss of the company where she works as an accountant, he decides to blackmail Dave through a series of anonymous couriers to get the amount of money he needs. But of course nothing goes as planned.
