Viggo Mortensen: Viva Maradona!

A big soccer fan, actor Viggo Mortensen has asked Barack Obama to let Diego Maradona into the US.

The «Lord of the Rings» star has asked Barack Obama to authorize Diego Maradona, the current coach of the Argentinean soccer team, to enter the States when his team plays a friendly match against the American team.

Maradona is an idol for Mortensen, who lived in Argentina for several years as a child. In his request, the Danish-American actor added, without irony, that if it were refused, the game should be played on neutral soil, such as Guantanamo Bay. What better place for a «friendly» match!

The brilliant soccer player has in fact been banned from entering the States since the 1994 World Cup, when he came up positive for cocaine during an anti-doping test. His repeated criticism of the Bush administration and his relationship with Fidel Castro and Hugo Chavez have not helped matters much either.
