Twilight tourists

Fans of the «Twilight» saga are flocking to two Tuscan towns where a key scene from «New Moon» was shot.

A small Tuscan town of 12,000 inhabitants known for its Etruscan ruins, Volterra has been descended on by thousands of adolescents from around the world in the past few days, thanks to the second episode of «Twilight», «New Moon».

In response to the sudden influx, local store owners immediately began stocking licensed movie merchandise, such as Robert Pattinson calendar and T-shirts.

Also available are tour packages like the «Hot on the Trail of Edward and Bella» tour, and a reenactment of one of the movie's key scenes, which takes place in the streets of the town.

While Volterra is cited in the movie, the central square of another medieval town in the regio, the wine producer Montepulciano some 100 kilometers southeast, was also the location for another scene in the movie. And of course «Twilight» fans are rushing there as well.
