Ireland names a film school after John Huston

The newly-opened film school will be dedicated to the memory of John Huston, as reported by the National University of Galway, Ireland. Fed up with America's communist witch hunts, Huston moved to western Ireland in 1952 and remained there until 1975, becoming an Irish citizen in 1964. By the time of his death in 1987 he had made over 50 movies, including classics such as «The African Queen» and «TheTreasure of the Sierra Madre». Huston's daughter – actor Anjelica Huston – was pleased with the university's decision: «It recognizes the deep relationships that bind Ireland and California, both past and present,» she said. A fundraiser is to be held in L.A. in May to raise scholarships for future film students.
