Arrivederci, Mr. Ponti

Legendary Italian film producer and Mr. Sophia Loren, Carlo Ponti, dies at 94.

Perhaps best known worldwide these days for being Sophia Loren's husband, Italian movie producer Carlo Ponti made possible a variety of movie classics from the 1960's and 70's, including Fellini's «La Strada», David Lean's «Dr. Zhivago», Michelangelo Antonioni's «Blow-Up» and «Zabriskie Point». Ponti and Loren's careers became entwined when he met her when she was 15 and groomed her to be a star. The two eventually married and had two sons. Ponti died in Geneva of pulmonary complications. He was 94.
