America's gay community takes on John Travolta

As targets of certain theories of scientologist Ron L. Hubbard, some American gays have spoken out against the remake of John Waters' «Hairspray», which premieres soon in the US. Their beef is that one of most prominent representatives of the homophobic organization shouldn't be playing the role of the iconic Edna Turnblad – played in the original version by the drag queen Divine.

Waters, meanwhile, doesn't see what all the fuss is about and has come out in favor of the «Pulp Fiction» star: «If (Travolta) was homophobic dancing in that fat suit with as many gay people as are working on this film, he would have had a heart attack and been dead.»
