Since the death of his wife, Hubert revels in his despair and loneliness on his couch, despite the efforts of his friend Samuel, who tries to get him to go out. While looking for a housekeeper, he meets Manuela, a 26-year-old in search of a room. Hubert lets himself be charmed by her love for life, letting her and two others – Paul, a divorce lawyer, and Marion, a shy nurse – come live in his huge apartment. These three young people will change his life...

Roommates Wanted is predictable from beginning to end. Every scene, situation and character seems right out of another family-oriented, feel-good comedy. But even worse, scene, situation and character seems to have been filmed, written and played better elsewhere. The cast, André Dussollier, Berengere Krief, Julia Piaton and Arnaud Ducret has little to do but revel in cheap vaudeville that swings back and forth between moralistic comedy (grumpy old man gets to enjoy life through young people) and total slapstick. At best, this movie may result in the occasional smile. At worst, its awkwardness is exasperating. Recommended only for forgiving souls desperate for any kind of good mood.
