The Last Witch Hunter

Movie Rating: Geoffrey Crété

Condemned to immortality by a powerful witch at the moment he killed her in the Middle Ages, Kaulder continues to roam the Earth, hunting down the remaining witches as part of a secret organization whose job is to keep the peace between humans and these supernatural creatures. When the priest who goes along on his missions turns up dead, Kaulder teams up with his replacement to hunt down the man’s killer. He discovers that the witch queen isn’t dead after all and that she is about to spread chaos in the city of New York…

Even fans of Vin Diesel, who flocked to see the pumped actor last year in Fast & Furious 7, would do better to keep away from this cheesy B flick. Witch movies have joined the ranks of exorcism movies as inherently bad, with ridiculous special effects, absurd plots and general superficiality – how they exists at all is mystery. And for some obscure reason, The Last Witch Hunter also stars Michael Caine and Elijah Wood who come along for a ride so embarrassing that it makes Van Helsing with Hugh Jackman and Kate Beckinsale seem good in comparison. A total piece of rubbish directed by Breck Eisner, who did much better with 2010’s The Crazies, his remake of George Romero’s Night of the Living Dead.
