Am an admirer of McKellern and a big fan of Sherlock Holmes, so I expected this to be a perfect combination. Hmm. It was diverting enough, but ultimately a little disappointing. The idea of an ageing Holmes gradually losing his marbles is an interesting one, and there are enough plot elements to keep it humming along, but it didn’t grab me the way I expected. Perhaps I was unhappy about the great Holmes being shown as fallible and slightly pitiful. Worth seeing though, and a nice period portrayal of London and rural England.… Show more
