Les Francis

Movie Rating: Geoffrey Crété

A Corsican family goes after four Parisians who are visiting the island.

To respect the last wishes of his grandfather, Jeff goes to Corsica in search of a mysterious family secret accompanied by his three best friends, without knowing what lies in wait. Because of a misunderstanding involving a beautiful woman, the Corsican Campana family declares open season on the Francis – Frenchmen from the mainland. And so starts a maddening chase across Corsica...

Mainly inspired by Francis Veber’s La Chèvre and Todd Phillips’s The Hangover, with part of the crew from Les Kaïra listed in the credits, Les Francis obviously hopes to be a public hit, a spot unfortunately already taken in France by the incredibly phenomenal Qu'est-ce qu'on a fait au bon Dieu. No luck, or more likely no talent: Fabrice Begotti’s debut is clumsy, sluggish, bogged down with gee-whiz staging and uninventive comedic timing. Which all makes for a sadly ordinary comedy.
