In the not-so-distant future on an Earth turned to ruin, only a few men survive. Among them are two who fight to survive by hunting the last few animals left, starting with dogs. But what they don’t know is that they too are being watched by a woman who has come from elsewhere…

This movie by Italian-Swiss directors Dario Bischofberger and Mirko Bischofberger is a UFO: an unidentified film object that is unclassifiable and impenetrable, leaving the audience confused about whether the thing was good or not. As mysterious as its title, Dog Men, which runs at just over an hour, seems like a long short trying and not quite succeeding at real cinema. It leaves behind the impression of being somewhere between a Terry Gilliam farce (a blind man comes out of a cave to an rousing soundtrack) and post-apocalyptic poetry (the impressive black and white setting that offers a few mind-blowing moments), with an actress reminiscent of a Russian dancer lost in an episode of Star Trek. Dog Men is funny, surprising and amazing – and also worth a look.
