An elite cop is sent on a mission to deserted Detroit to track down a weapon of mass destruction.

In a Detroit of the near future, Brick Mansions is a deserted ghetto where martial law reigns. Damien, an unorthodox elite cop, is sent on a mission that can only be termed suicidal: to go into the heart of this dangerous city and bring back a weapon of mass destruction. There is also a bit of irony: the man who has the bomb is none other than the redoubtable Tremaine, a gangster who killed Damien’s father...

A useless, slapdash American remake US of Pierre Morel’s Banlieue 13, Brick Mansions manages to make the original seem like an authentic masterpiece. In this umpteenth production in Luc Besson’s daisy chain, only the explosive David Belle, who was also part of Banlieue 13, emerges unscathed. Let’s hope that the last installment of the Fast & Furious franchise is of better quality, so that the whirlwind career of Paul Walker doesn’t end on such an awful note.
