Alain Gsponer’s adaptation of the popular children’s book by Ottfried Preussler.

For many years, a little ghost has lived in Eulenstein castle. He hides during the day by sleeping in a trunk in the attic and at night he roams the castle’s halls. When a boy named Karl goes on a school field trip to the castle at night, he sees the ghost but nobody believes him. The next day, the ghost wakes up at noon instead of midnight and the sun turns him black. He’ll need the help of Karl and his friends to turn white again.

This is the second adaptation of a book by Ottfried Preußler, who recently passed away. The Swiss German version is voiced by professional clown Nadja "Nadeschkin" Sieger, which would certainly have pleased the author. Apart from a few weaknesses in its CGI effects, S'Chline Gspängst is well-produced family entertainment with an expert cast. An absolute must this fall for kids of all ages.
