The Coen Brothers go folk.

The story of Llewyn Davis, fictional musician of the New York 60’s folk scene, Inside Llewyn Davis speaks of solitude, grief, and the absurdity our lives are made of - as always with the Coens. A look at an artist’s life, a talented man, though probably too pessimistic and sarcastic for his own good.

Through a delicate treatment of complex relations, the Coens manage, as they always do, to shine a light on the details that make life tragic at times, funny at other, and always wonderfully absurd. It’s in the subtle writing of precisely outlined characters that they unveil the fascinating net of discordant moods. The musical choices and arrangements as well as the gorgeous cinematography immerse the audience with Llewyn in the cosy greyish melancholy of his world and state of mind. A splendid film.

Hypnotizing, touching and full of good music portrait of loneliness and struggle with their own talent and fate.
