An 11-year-old boy flees a refugee camp in Jordan to go back to Palestine.

1967. After the Six Day War, many Palestinians flee to Jordan. 11-year-old Tarek and his mother Ghaydaa end up in the Harir refugee camp. The boy is smart and astute, but he doesn't fit in at school: he asks clever questions and challenges his teacher. Tarek (Mahmoud Asfa) rubs people the wrong way. He can't read but is exceptional in math and has more common sense than some so-called educated people. He feels like an outsider and wants only one thing: to go back to his homeland of Palestine. He runs away and finds shelter in the Fedayeen's camp.

Palestinian director Annemarie Jacir's drama is set in a fateful time of awakening and hope. The film tells of how resistance fighters found each other here and there, became organized and turned into the PLO. In this regard the movie has a tendency to use a too-soft focus.
