What to Expect When You're Expecting

Movie Rating: Agathe Tissier

What couples expecting to expect can look forward to on the way to parenthood.

Whether they're well-prepared or completely chaotic, future parents need to adapt to several steps – no matter their background, there are surprises and doubts in store for all. Writing a book on the benefits of breast feeding won't get you out of the nasty things pregnancy does to your body; choosing to adopt after failing to get pregnant can result in just as many questions as getting knocked up after a one-night stand; and even the most physically prepared will be shocked by the realities of giving birth, when they realize there's no going back. As the mothers go through these scenarios, the fathers try to stay cool as they hang out, giving each other advice and support.

Director Kirk Jones pokes fun at hormonal pregnancies and worries quickly forgotten at the first sight of the newborn's big toe, but unexpectedly includes more serious aspects of future motherhood. A good natured comedy that wants to be taken seriously too, offering up 110 minutes of both smiles and tears.
