The career of Gus Lobel (Clint Eastwood), an old baseball talent scout, is on its way down. Those close to him are worried about his failing eyesight, which he refuses to acknowledge. His daughter (Amy Adams), a strong woman with a solid reputation in man's world, decides to visit her absent father, whom she's barely seen since her mother died when she was six. She hopes to take this occasion to finally bond with him, but the old man is stubborn and he doesn't appreciate what he thinks of as her meddling. Father-daughter reunion with no surprises, with a love story on the side, all stitched cheaply together in the American heartland. Sweet and nice, although not a movie that makes you want to run around the bases with glee.
