From the makers of "Little Miss Sunshine", the story of a young writer who brings his dream girl to life through words.

How wonderful it would be to bring your own soul mate to life. Calvin (Paul Dano) manages this, even if only by chance. The California native is a writer who has already enjoyed great success by producing a cult novel, but now he has writer’s block. After a vivid dream, he writes the story of Ruby – and suddenly his protagonist (Zoe Kazan) moves from his imagination to his kitchen and makes him breakfast. And she’s not just in Calvin’s head – everyone can see Ruby. But when their unusual relationship follows its normal course and starts getting complicated, Calvin makes a fatal mistake...

The script and direction are lively, clever and funny, the chemistry between the main characters is spot on, with high caliber co-stars like Annette Bening, Antonio Banderas and Steve Coogan. But Ruby Sparks doesn’t fulfill the intellectual and magical possibilities of its premise, losing a bit of its allure by its dramatic but unfortunately not deep finale.
