Young Sean receives an encrypted voice message from his grandfather (Michael Caine), which he decrypts together with his stepfather Hank (Dwayne Johnson). The message contains the coordinates of the mysterious island described by Jules Verne in his novel. Together with a helicopter pilot and his daughter, the two travel there, where they experience both tiny and huge animals in a strange land. After a crash landing, they find the grandfather – and themselves in danger, when the island threatens to sink.

In contrast to the first film, this one is not exclusively aimed at young people. Although the plot and the message are simple and the adventure is innocent, it still attracts older audiences with beautiful locations, great chemistry between the actors and zingers flying back and forth between Dwayne Johnson and Michael Caine. Great fun for all.
