A disgraced reporter accepts a job to investigate a 40-year-old disappearance. Remake of the Swedish thriller by David Fincher.

Mikael Blomkvist, investigative journalist and co-editor of the socio-economic magazine Millennium, is indicted for libel after writing an accusatory article about a Swedish businessman: his sources and proof turn out to be falsified. As he waits for judgment to be pronounced on him, he accepts a job to investigate the 40-year-old disappearance of a rich man's niece. In exchange, the man promises to double Blomkvist's salary and give him proof of the businessman's culpability...

Pessimist David Fincher enjoys filming thrillers with ice-cold murders where the human soul shows its darkest side. This slick and captivating remake of the Swedish thriller adapted from the first book of the successful Millennium trilogy by Stieg Larrson, while it makes a nice addition to Fincher's filmography, doesn't quite reach the level of his masterpieces like Se7en, Zodiac, The Game, The Social Network or Fight Club.
