Ma part du gâteau

A jobless laborer is hired as a cleaning lady by the trader responsible for her factory's closure.

France lives in the north of France, where she raises three girls by herself. Recently fired by the factory where she worked for 20 years, she decides not to join her demonstrating colleagues in occupying the factory. Instead, she goes to Paris in search of work. Once there, however, she is hired as a cleaning lady by Stéphane, a wealthy and self-satisfied trader just back from London. Despite the social gulf that separates the two, they become attracted to one another. Until Stéphane reveals he was the man who closed down her old factory...

Despite excellent performances by the two actors - Karin Viard and Gilles Lellouche - Cédric Klapisch's Ma part du gâteau suffers from a series of worn clichés and a weak screenplay. A shame.
