Simon Werner a disparu...

Several pupils from the same class disappear mysteriously.

Autumn 1992. One, by one, pupils from the same class at a smart suburban high school near a dark forest start to disappear. First Simon, then Laetitia, then Rabier. Mysterious disappearances, with speculation about each one but no certainty.

From four different points of view, each with its own chapter, Fabrice Gobert constructs a puzzle in the style of Gus Van Sant's Elephant, or even earlier, Akira Kurosawa's Rashomon. A successful puzzle showing the various sides of each main character, allowing Gobert to neatly explore the torments of adolescence: what one wants people to see, what one hides, what one wants to be, and what one projects onto others during days full of latent tension - with the result that the truth is often more simple than it seems.
