Angèle et Tony

A woman on conditional parole meets a fisherman in Normandy.

Out on conditional parole after 4 years in prison, Angèle is a young mother who is a bit lost and used to offering herself to men for mere trinkets. To get back custody of her son who is living with her in-laws, she has to prove to the authorities she can live a stable private and working life. And so she gets a job working part-time for Tony, a gruff but sensitive fisherman. Although she falls for his charm, he rejects her brusque and awkward advances...

Typical independent French film, with both good and bad points: at first unpleasant and hard to relate to – just out of jail, she steals and throws herself at men – our heroine soon shows her sensitive side in this unusual love story set against a backdrop of the beautiful coast of Normandy and the economic crisis the fishermen find themselves in.
