In Japan, «Babel» is bad for your health
The Japanese distributor of the Oscar-nominated and highly acclaimed «Babel» has placed an ad in the paper making potential audience members aware that the movie may be bad for their health. At least 15 people became nauseous after watching the movie.
The trigger was neither the bullet slamming into Cate Blanchett, nor Brad Pitt's beard, nor worries about Rinko Kikuchi, who stumbles around naked in the Japanese part of the movie. The Japanese are getting nauseous from the strobe light that throbs endlessly throughout the disco scene.
The distributor is now warning people that the scene may make them ill. This isn't the first time this has happened: in 1997 an episode in the «Pokemon» series made Japanese audiences feel ill and gave them stomach cramps.
